This blog is not affiliated with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in any way, shape, or form. Information is taken from the publicly viewable NHTSA Database. Crash tests posted on this blog were conducted between May 21, 1979 and August 17, 1989 at a speed of 35 miles per hour (56 kilometers per hour) into a solid wall with dummies restrained by the vehicle safety belt system. Tests were conducted on the model year vehicle listed in the post and may or may not be accurate for a differing model year. Injury measures are likely accurate to a plus or minus 2% range - for example, a 26% risk of injury is likely in the 24-28% range. The five star system used for 2010 and earlier crash tests is used.

Injury risk:
10% or less - 5 star rating
11% - 20% - 4 star rating
21% - 35% - 3 star rating
36% - 45% - 2 star rating
46% or more - 1 star rating

1980 NHTSA Crash Tests - OLD DATA

This site is not affiliated with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. I am just a 19 year old man posting this. Data is taken from the publicly available NHTSA Database.

NOTE: Tests were conducted on 1980 model vehicles and may or may not be accurate to other model years.

As with all years, some tests may be missing due to incomplete data. This page contains MOST 35 mph frontal NCAP crash tests done by NHTSA.

Injury likelihoods are calculated by the best of my ability and may be off by a slight amount.

UPDATE DECEMBER 30, 2013 - These tests are being re-posted. Injury likelihoods are being re-calculated, and the later calculations should be judged to be more accurate than the calculations in this post.

NOTE: At the time this test was conducted, NHTSA used a pass/fail system of grading. Vehicles with HICs of 1000 or under and chest G's of 60 or under for both occupants passed. This vehicle failed because the driver's HIC score was just one point too high. The pass/fail system has been discontinued since September 1981, and the current five-star rating system was introduced in December 1993.
